Numerous companies have their base here, including the carmaker Volkswagen, which feeds also a whole range of sub-suppliers. Thanks to it, the logistics segment in the city and the whole surrounding area is doing particularly well. This sphere is dominated above all by the town of Senec just a few kilometres from Bratislava, while a growth trend can also be witnessed in the nearby towns of Sväty Jur, Lozorno or Malacky. Of particular interest directly in Bratislava is the borough of Devínska Nová Ves, as it is home to the said car plant, and the southern part of Petržalka, especially on Kopčianska Street – for excellent transport connections. This is also the reason why a logistic centre is cropping up in the Rača borough of Bratislava.
In addition to logistics, the hotel sector is also witnessing a renaissance. Bratislava has a lot of tourist potential that is still not fully utilized. Bratislava’s trump card is in the area of short break and congress tourism, where it is gradually becoming a relevant European player. Hotel developers reacted on time. The outcome is not only a good choice of three and four star business hotels, but also two planned five star hotels. Both of them will be located along the attractive embankment area. The Kempinski will be part of River Park, while the Sheraton will be built by Irish company Ballymore Properties as part of its embankment development Eurovea. The two hotels should be finished in 2010.
